NCCU Women’s Tennis Signs First Recruit for 2016-17

DURHAM, N.C. – First year head coach Tom Schrecengost has inked his first North Carolina Central University women's tennis recruit for 2016-2017 with the signing of a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to Frida Anneke Cnossen during the November early signing period announced Thursday.

Cnossen is a top-100 women's player (all ages) from the Netherlands. The 5-8, right-handed player is nationally ranked No. 99 in singles and No. 97 in doubles by KNLTB (Koninklijke Nederlandse Lawn Tennis Bond). She started playing tennis at the age of eight.

"Frida is an outstanding addition to the tennis program and NCCU community," said Schrecengost. "She is an extremely bright, personable girl who comes from a wonderful family. She will make an impact on the court and in the classroom. I expect great things from her starting in the fall of 2016. In short, she is exactly what I want for my first recruit at NCCU!"

Cnossen, who is from the small town of Laren that is located about an hour Southeast of Amsterdam, will graduate high school from Willem de Zwijger. The daughter of Wendela and Jan Cnossen plans to pursue biomedical sciences at NCCU while playing tennis for the Lady Eagles.
