DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University football redshirt sophomore quarterback
Malcolm Bell has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2014 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Bell averaged more than 306 yards of total offense with 11 total touchdowns during the month of October. He completed 85-of-132 passes for 966 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 241.5 passing yards per game, while also running for 259 yards and three touchdowns.
Bell was honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week twice in the four weeks of October. He threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns with 66 rushing yards in a win over Howard on Oct. 4, and passed for 287 yards and three touchdowns with 72 yards and two scores rushing during a victory over Savannah State on Oct. 25.
Now in his third year at NCCU, Bell is majoring in business administration and has his sights set on graduate school to secure an MBA for a career as a database administrator.
Among his community service activities, Bell joined a few of his teammates in reading to students at Githens Middle School in Durham, North Carolina.
