DURHAM, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com) – North Carolina Central University women’s basketball junior guard
Tenika Neely has been named the Nationwide Insurance NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2012 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Neely averaged 3.8 points, 1.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds in six games as a starter during the month of November. The 5-6 guard also contributed two steals and a blocked shot, the second rejection of her college career.
In her best overall outing of the month, Neely recorded seven points, two rebounds and two assists at Campbell on Nov. 16. She also scored seven points with an assist and a steal at Coastal Carolina on Nov. 12. The Fayetteville Christian School graduate closed out the month with three points, three assists and two boards against Wofford on Nov. 26.
In the classroom, Neely boasts a 3.91 grade point average as a double-major in political science and psychology. She is a Chancellor’s Scholar and a regular on the university’s honor roll.
Neely also holds a leadership position on the Executive Board of the NCCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
