Question: Why NCCU?
Calvin Hillie: “The tradition of the football program and the prestige of the university. The football program was coming off of back-to-back conference championships and a black college national championship. I have family ties too. My uncle (Sam King) and mother (Teresa Hillie) are both alumni of NCCU.”

Q: What is your major and what do you want to do after graduation?
CH: “My major is criminal justice. I’d like to pursue a career in the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency).”

Q: What do you like most about NCCU?
CH: “The atmosphere at the school is very family-oriented. Everyone looks out for each other.”

Q: What has been your most memorable moment at NCCU?
CH: “I’d have to say my freshman year (2007) beating A&T. I was a true freshman and I was in on the last play of the game when Eric Ray got the interception.”

Q: What is your favorite part about game day inside O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium?
CH: “Coming out of the tunnel. It is a real electric feeling.”

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
CH: “Usually I listen to music. Sometimes I’ll call my friends from back home to see how they are doing and talk some football to get in the right frame of mind.”

Q: What’s something interesting about yourself that others may not know?
CH: “I took a yoga class last summer to work on my flexibility.”

Q: If you could invite any living person to W.G. Pearson Cafeteria for lunch, who would it be?
CH: “President Obama. That would be a good conversation to have. I’d ask him how it feels to overcome adversity.”

Q: Why football?
CH: “I love the physicality... to find out who is the bigger man. I also like the challenge and being in the center of things.”

Q: How would you like to be remembered on the NCCU gridiron?
CH: “I’d like to be known as one of the best linebackers to ever play at North Carolina Central.”
