ATLANTA, Ga. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – Senior defensive lineman
Teryl White has been selected to represent North Carolina Central University at the 2010 Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl All-Star Game on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. inside the Georgia Dome.
The honor will allow the Macon, Ga., native to cap his college career in his home state.
As a senior, White recorded 39 tackles (19 solo) with 8.5 tackles for a loss of 39 yards and 2.5 sacks for 20 yards lost. He also tallied a forced fumble and a blocked kick. In past three seasons (2008-2010), the 6-5, 295-pound lineman has amassed 153 tackles.
White has also excelled as a student leader off the gridiron. He serves as President of NCCU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a two-time recipient of CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honors. The North Forsyth High School (Winston-Salem, N.C.) graduate is a marketing major and Spanish minor at NCCU.
During the week leading up to Saturday’s game, the senior student-athletes will participate in an NFL combine, community service projects and an alumni mixer. Gameday activities include a pre-game tailgate party, halftime performances by Alabama State and Grambling marching bands, and a post-game youth football contest.

The Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl selects the top 100 draft-eligible seniors (including 10 alternate players) from all HBCU football conferences, the MEAC, SWAC, SIAC, and CIAA, to participate in the nation’s premier senior all-star game. Once that list is set, scouts from the NFL, CFL, UFL, and Area Football evaluate the quality of players available during a one day official combine administered by National Football Scouting of Indianapolis, Indiana. Last year, 32 teams attended the week's practices and Saturday's game.
The 2010 NFL Draft produced two HBCU draft picks and 16 HBCU football student-athletes signed free-agent agreements. Each of these 18 players were participants in the 2009 Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl.
This year’s game will feature the Best of the Best in HBCU Football. The Russell Athletic HBCU All-Star Bowl Committee is proud to announce proceeds from the game will benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
