Jonathon C. Leach, MPA, was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Administration in Fall of 2014 after serving in the role of Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics from 2013 to 2014. Prior to the being Special Assistant, Leach served as the Development Coordinator for the department from Fall of 2012-2013.

Leach brings the department an extensive and demonstrable experience with enterprise financial systems and administrative processes in the context of higher education. In his current role, Leach is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the athletics department main office, coordination of game contracts, game day ticket operations and human resources. Leach also serves as the sport administrator for Cheerleading, and serves on the Athletics Director's senior staff.

In his development role, Leach was responsible for assisting primarily with the day-to-day operation of the Eagle Club, a comprehensive fund-raising organization responsible for procuring funds to support the NCCU Athletics program.

Prior to joining the NCCU Department of Athletics, Leach earned his master's degree while working in various departments in the Division of Student Affairs. Leach has extensive experience in Student Affairs having served in various areas since graduating from North Carolina Central University in 2004. He worked in the Dean of Students Office with responsibilities in Judicial Affairs and Greek Life, the Department of Residential Life and Campus Recreation. His last responsibility in the Division of Student Affairs was coordinating the Triangle Transportation Demand Management Program from the Triangle J Council of Governments & NC Department of Transportation.

Leach has always had a love for student leadership and development. He has served as advisor for numerous student organizations while at NCCU, helping to develop countless students, some include the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Bon Vivant Fashion Society, Underground Legendz Dance Team, SGA Senior Class and the Student Government Association. In 2016, Leach was recognized by North Carolina Central University as one of the top Forty Under Forty at their 3rd Annual Awards Gala.

Leach currently serves as President of the Durham Chapter of the NCCU Alumni Association. He graduated in 2004 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and earned his Master’s in Public Administration in 2010, both from North Carolina Central University.
