NCCU KICKER PARENT GARNERS MEAC WEEKLY FOOTBALL AWARD

Sophomore Made Three Field Goals, Including Career-Long 46-Yard Blast, in Overtime Win

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University sophomore place-kicker Oleg Parent has been announced as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference co-Special Teams Player of the Week for his heroic performance in the Eagles’ 23-20 double-overtime victory over Delaware State, the MEAC announced Monday.

A native of Lake Forest, Calif., Parent connected on all three of his field goal attempts, including a career-long 46-yard bomb to tie the score and send the game into a second overtime. After sending the sellout homecoming crowd into a frenzy with his game-tying boot, Parent connected on a 26-yard field goal in the second overtime session, which proved to be the game-winner.

The victory clinched NCCU’s first winning season since 2007, and positioned the Eagles in second place in the MEAC standings.

The Eagles bring their 6-3 overall record and their 5-1 conference mark down to Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday, Nov. 10 to face the Florida A&M Rattlers on their homecoming.
