DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics has designated Saturday’s football season finale against North Carolina A&T as a fundraiser for the flagship station of the NCCU Sports Network, WNCU 90.7 FM.

After nearly 15 years away, the football broadcasts returned to the FM airwaves this season on the member-supported, 50,000-watt radio station and this is an opportunity for listeners of the NCCU football games to show their support and appreciation for the renewed relationship.  WNCU 90.7 FM is a non-profit radio station and depends heavily on its listeners and sponsors to help with the cost of day-to-day operations.

Fans are encouraged to donate to WNCU two ways this Saturday.

First, by going to www.WNCU.org and clicking on the “Donations/Membership” tab on the right side of the page and after filling out the payment information, typing in “athletics” in the comments section to verify that your donation is in support of the broadcasts on their station.

The second option is for fans that will be attending Saturday’s Eagle/Aggie showdown to visit the WNCU tent in the tailgate area inside the track and field complex and show your appreciation to the staff for carrying NCCU athletics on the radio in 2012.

Be sure to tune in to the NCCU Sports Network’s coverage of Saturday’s heated battle between NCCU and NC A&T as the Champps Pregame Show hits the air at 1:30 p.m. with play-by-play voice Chris Hooks along with NCCU hall-of-famer Joe Simmons and former two-sport star sideline reporter Danielle Johnson-Webb.  Listeners can also stay up-to-date with scores around the nation with studio host Paul Doherty as the Eagles can solidify second place in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with a win and if Howard falls to Delaware State.  Lackisha Freeman, General Manager of WNCU, will also be a special guest during the halftime show on the broadcast.
